HUBS

Who is a ‘Hub' for?

Our ‘Hub' meetings are held for people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and for their carers. Some people with Parkinson's come to meetings on their own whilst others attend with a partner, friend or carer

What happens at a ‘Hub'?

‘Hubs' are open between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

Coffee is served by Volunteers from 10.30 and this is followed by a short talk from a Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist (PDNS) on a topic of particular relevance to someone living with Parkinson's.

Before lunch (£3.50pp) there is sometimes an exercise group. A general interest topic or activity group takes place in the afternoon.

Do I have to stay all day?

The idea of a ‘Hub' is that you can come and go as you need to suit how you feel. However, the published programme does need to keep to time as much as is possible, so speaker slots will always start as published.

Volunteers who staff the Hubs are all members of a Rotary or Inner Wheel Club.

Where are ‘Hubs' held?

‘Hubs' are currently held in 4 differing locations:

• Threemilestone Methodist Hall, Truro, TR3 6BY 1st Thursday in a month 10.30.-3.30
• Cuddra WI Hall, St Austell, PL25 3JN 2nd Wednesday in a month 10.30.-3.30
• Millennium House, Pensilva, Liskeard, PL14 5NF 3rd Wednesday in a month 10.30.-3.30
• All Saints Church Hall, Tuckingmill, Camborne, TR14 8RQ 4th Wednesday in a month 10.30.-3.30

How do I book lunch or let you know that I want to attend a ‘Hub'?

We obviously need to know numbers for catering and we ask that you phone 01872 222281 at least the day before to book your meal. Be prepared: this may be an answer machine!

Can we speak to the PDNS privately?

After the nurse has completed her planned talk, she is available for informal discussions and private consultations. You can book an appointment with the PD Nurse on the day or pre booked by phoning 01209 888270
